PONY International and Monterey PONY Baseball/Softball, Inc. welcome you to the 2008 PONY
Baseball Bronco League World Series, in the City of Marina and in historic Monterey, California. Monterey
and Marina are ocean side communities approximately 120 miles south of San Francisco. Tourism is
Montereys main source of income with it's Spanish adobes, world class restaurants
and is known as the golf capital of the world, with courses like Pebble Beach, Spyglass,
and many more. The City of Marina has been our logging host for the last six
year, the City is a multi-cultural city located 5 miles north of Monterey.
This will be the sixteenth consecutive year that
Monterey PONY Baseball/Softball, Inc. has hosted the PONY Baseball Bronco League World
Series. We look forward to meeting and serving you.
The following is key information that all managers
need to read and review with their coaches and team
members. The review of this information will help your stay and participation in
the 2008 PONY Baseball Bronco League World Series, a pleasant experience.

PONY Bronco World Series Changes
Playing Format
The Bronco World Series changed its
playing format adding two additional teams to the tournament format, Mexico
and California Region making it a ten team tournament. Each team will
play four games
and play each team in their pool Green or White.
On Monday the teams having the most wins
will crossover and the winner of the Green Division will play the runner-up
of the White Division. The winner of the White Division will crossover
and play the runner-up of the Green Division. The winner of each
game will move forward to the Championship Game on Tuesday night.
In case of ties PONY OFFICIALS will go
over the Tie Breaker Rules at the Manager's Meeting.
Team Photograph Important:
A color team photograph, listing the players and coaches must be sent
overnight mail to the Bronco League World Series Chairperson as soon as the team qualifies
for the World Series. This photograph will be placed into the Bronco League World
Series Program so the program can be ready the day of the World Series. No Black & White
National Anthem & Country's Flag:
It is the responsibility of the team coaches to provide their country's
national anthem and their country's flag to the Chairperson or the Official Announcer so
it may be played and flown during the opening ceremonies and the World Series.

Housing
Rules
All rooms must be secured with a credit
card at check in time by the Team Manager. It will be the responsibility of the team
coaching staff to monitor the behavior of team members while staying at host motels.
Inspection of rooms will be conducted during the tournament, checking for neatness, damage
to the rooms and grounds. All damage to the rooms or grounds caused by team members will
be applied to the credit card.
(Important)
Host is responsible for housing the
night before start of the World Series and through the night of being eliminated from the
World Series under PONY Contract to host World Series. It is the responsibility of
teams to provide their own housing after being eliminated. It is imperative that if
you plan to stay through the World Series that you make arrangements with the Motel or
secure lodging during your stay. This is a busy time of the year and if your
flight is for Wednesday or Thursday you need to secure lodging if you are eliminated.
Please talk with the Manager regarding the team staying on past the teams
elimination or in some cases since PONY has made your travel arrangements you already know
when you are scheduled to leave.
Motel staff have been instructed to
report damage, excessive cleaning to the Tournament Chairperson or Vice Chairperson.
Return travel money will be held from team until which time damages may be assessed.
A credit card acceptable to the motel must
be provided or the PONY Baseball Bronco League World Series host committee will not be
responsible for housing and team management will have to provide their own accommodations.
A Ten Dollar ($10.00) telephone
deposit is required per room, for outside telephone service, including credit card or
operator assisted calling. The deposit is fully refundable, less any telephone
charges that the guest has incurred. The motel will not accept collect telephone
calls for any guest. Personal check will not be accepted or cashed. Pay
telephones are available for guest use. The telephone deposit is the responsibility
of the manager.
PONY requires that the host provided
rooms for the teams. Teams must use these rooms as they are paid for in advance.
Teams electing not to use the rooms will be responsible for reimbursement to
the PONY Bronco World Series Committee. Each team will be provided with
five (5) motel rooms each having a minimum of 2 double beds, four individuals per room.
Wives, girl friends and relatives may not stay in rooms assigned to
managers, coaches, players or umpires. Check
In Time 3:00 p.m., call to see if you can check in earlier.
The World Series Committee
is not responsible for the housing or accommodations of parents who travel with the
players. Monterey Area is a Tourist area and August is the height of the tourist
season. Motels rooms vary in price and can get expensive. We suggest that if
your team has a chance to win the Zone and move on to the PONY Bronco League World Series
parents secure a room prior to arrival. It is easier to cancel the room if the team
does not move on to the World Series. Motel Information

Feeding of Teams:
Upon arrival the business manager will be given a business packet of
information, maps, meal tickets and tournament passes for all personnel on their team. It
will be the responsibility of the Business Manager to issue or distribute meal tickets to
their personnel.
The meal ticket packet will contain tickets from
the local McDonalds located at 610 Del Monte Blvd. in Monterey near Jacks Ballpark and 267 Reservation Road in Marina for
breakfast and lunch. Dinner will be held at the Jacks Ballpark before or after the
scheduled game. All dinners will be served at Jacks Ballpark between the hours of 5 p.m.
and 8 p.m., lunch on Thursday will also be served at Jacks Ballpark. Meals are
prepared for team members only.
We have made arrangements with Domino's Pizza to
feed the teams dinner on Wednesday August 4, 2008. Since
various teams will be arriving and checking into motels at different times during the day
and night it provides the best solution to team feeding. Information will be
included in your packet of information upon arrival. Once again Bronco World
Series Committee is only responsible for the feeding of team members only.

Bracket Schedule:
The World Series will be a Pool Play format. Home
Team will be decided by the toss of a coin one-hour before the schedule game. Coin Toss
will take place in front of the home plate concession stand by the Tournament Director or
Co-Tournament Director.

A gift exchange will
take place between the teams during the opening ceremonies. It is suggested that
league or team pins be given; they make an excellent gift. Teams will line up
on the baselines opposite their first opponent and at the proper time the gift exchange
will take place.

Weather conditions in Monterey during the month of August are usually mild to warm.
Average weather is 68 degrees. Occasional off shore summer fog will be pulled inland, a

Tournament Player Pass:
Business Manager will be given a team packet
containing information and Tournament Player Passes for team members and coaches. These
passes will be needed to gain entry into the park when not in uniform. Passes are not to be given to family
members or friends for entry into the tournament; passes will be taken at the admission's
gate and not returned to the team member.
Manager's
Pre-Tournament Business Meeting:
An informal barbecue lunch for Team Managers,
Coaches and PONY Tournament Officials, will be hosted by the Tournament Committee prior to
the Managers Pre-Tournament Business Meeting. The Business Mangers shall
bring to this meeting all tournament eligibility documents, player eligibility affidavits
and medical releases for players. The Pre-Tournament lunch and business
meeting will be held in the JACL Hall across from Jacks Baseball Park at
424 Adams Street.
The Tournament Committee will provide a barbecue
lunch at Jacks Baseball Park for players, while the Pre-Tournament Business meeting is
being conducted. This will give the players an opportunity to visit with one another prior
to the opening ceremonies.

Tourist Information:
The City of Monterey is an interesting placed
filled with historical sites, Fishermans Wharf, Cannery Row, Aquarium, all within
walking distance from Jacks Baseball Park. The Monterey Sports Center is located across
the street from Jacks Baseball Park for those like to keep in shape.

Food Concessions:
Concessions are provided by Monterey PONY
Baseball/Softball, Inc. and operated by the Host Committee. The money from the sale of
food items and souvenirs go to off set the cost of hosting the PONY Baseball Bronco League
World Series. All profits go directly to the league, which helps pay for the World Series.
Souvenirs:
Souvenir items like
sweatshirts, World Series Pins, Hats, Patches, Sweat Shirts, T-shirts and miscellaneous articles are
available. It is advisable that you purchase souvenirs items as soon as
possible as they run out fast. It is also advisable to use travelers
checks, credit card or cash; there has been a problem with personal checks from out of the
local area.
Local Transportation:
It is the responsibility of the Host Committee
under contract to provide transportation from and to the airport, practice fields, games,
special events and back to the motel. Because of the number of players there may be time
delays. A member of the coaching staff is required to accompany team members in each
vehicle when using host tournament transportation. It will be the responsibility of the coaching staff in vehicles to
monitor the behavior of team members while being transported. Teams wishing to tour the area must provide their own
transportation. Rental cars are available at the local airport, which will allow
more flexibility in your transportation needs. We have provided a list of the car rental
agencies. It is recommended that Teams or parents of team members call in advance to
secure local transportation.
There is also a Transit Schedule with map and
routes, should you elect to use public transportation to the downtown area and Jacks Baseball Park. The motels are conveniently
located on a major public transportation route.
