Day Three Recap: July 31st, 2022

Game Nine: Pearsall, TX 2, Laredo, TX 13


Scoring seven runs in the top of the fifth inning, Laredo, TX beat Pearsall, TX with a score of 13-2.


Laredo got on the board in the top of the first inning. A ground out and an error created a 2-0 lead.


Pearsall responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning on a single to make the game 2-1.


After two scoreless innings, Laredo’s offense made up for it by scoring four runs in the top of the fourth. A single started the scoring in this inning. Back-to-back doubles scored three more runs to take a solid 6-1 lead.


In the bottom of the fourth inning, Pearsall tried to chip away at Laredo’s lead, scoring on a walk.


Laredo’s offense came stayed hot to score seven runs in the top of the fifth. Two singles brought in three runs. Back-to-back walks earn Laredo two more runs. The sixth run of the inning was scored on a fly out, and the seventh run was scored on a passed ball.


Pearsall was unable to make up any runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, making the final score 13-2 in Laredo’s favor.

Game Ten: Tijuana, MX 10, Smithfield, VA 0


Tijuana, MX scored at least one run in every inning, beating Smithfield, VA 10-0 in five innings.


To start the scoring, Tijuana scored on a walk in the bottom of the first.


After Geovanni Baldovinos stole second and third, he scored on a fly out. A single added another run, making it a 3-0 game in the bottom of the second inning.


In the bottom of the third, they scored two runs on singles and one on an error.


Omar Perez scored a run after tagging up on a fly out in the fourth.


Two singles and a double brought in three more runs to make the final score 10-0.

Game Eleven: Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 15, Laredo, TX 0


Kaohsiung City, Taiwan beat Laredo, TX 15-0 in only three and a half innings to advance to the Championship.


Kaohsiung City scored two runs on two singles, five runs on three doubles, a walk and three runs on an error on a fly ball in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead.


In the bottom of the second, two singles extended Kaohsiung City’s lead to 14-0.


Laredo prevented a no-hitter with a single by Jacob Compean in the top of the third, but he was left on base at the end of the inning.


Kaohsiung City scored their 15th and final run of the game on a fly out in the bottom of the third. Laredo remained unable to score, ending their run in the World Series.

Game Twelve: Tijuana, MX 3, Placentia, CA 0


Placentia, CA’s offense was unable to score, allowing Tijuana, MX to win 3-0.


A double in the bottom of the first brought in a run for Tijuana. After tagging up, Angel Verdejo scored their second run to take a 2-0 lead.


Both teams’ defenses went back and forth preventing their opponent from scoring.


In the bottom of the fourth, Esteban Saucedo stole home to score Tijuana’s third run.


The teams continued to battle, but Tijuana claimed a 3-0, calling for a rematch to determine who will play in the Championship.
